Definition of a Missional Team: n. Group of people working together to achieve a specific task or duty.
The question is often asked how mission can be done in the local community, in our nation and overseas when not all church members will be at the same gathering every week.
This is where the concept of "Missional Teams" comes in. They have three distinguishing values which makes them different to any other gathering.
"More than one person" by definition a team has more than one person and so a missional team must be made up of more then one person. It may be lead by one person but they must have more then one member.
Engaging with "Not Yet Christians" on a regular basis. The focus of a missional team must be outside of a Christian gathering and outside of the Christian community.
Focussed on an area The teams must be very specific about what they are seeking to achieve, whether it be addressing social, spiritual, physical, emotional or mental needs of the community locally or abroad.
Missional teams do not need to be based on Warwick Church's premises but wherever best enables the team to achieve there goals.
In the past, mission has been about us taking God to people and in our arrogance we have forgotten that God is present everywhere. Mission is about rubbing shoulders with others and pointing out where God is already working in their lives.
